Course INCLUDES a whistle, a Life Saving Training Institute Lifeguard T-shirt (You will specify T-shirt size upon registration), and an American Red Cross Digital Lifeguard Certification valid for 2 years upon successful completion of the course.
An Adult and pediatric resuscitation mask will be PROVIDED for the participant to use for the course. If the participant wants to purchase a mask they can do so at the time of registration for a cost of $15 OR they can purchase an adult and pediatric resuscitation mask at the course for a cost of $10.00 (CASH AND VENMO ACCEPTED). The participant is NOT required to purchase a resuscitation mask as one will be PROVIDED for you to use during the course sessions.
Prerequisites:
1. Minimum age: 15 years
2. Complete a swim- tread-swim sequence: Jump into the water submerge resurface swim 150 yards (using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both) maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs then swim 50 yards using the front crawl breaststroke or a combination of both.
3. Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 12 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point holding the object at the surface with both hands and exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
Course Overview:
This is a Blended Learning course. Blended learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency. Please plan to complete all 16 eLearning (online) modules at least two days prior to your first in-person skills session. Most participants complete the eLearning portion of the course in approximately 6 hours. Your experience may vary widely based on several factors including your PC, internet speed and previous training. We recommend beginning the online session as soon as possible to ensure that you are able to complete all eLearning modules prior to the first in-person skill session. An Email will be sent with the blended learning link and instructions for completing the online course immediately after registration. You can find the directions for the training and important information for the course at the BOTTOM of your confirmation email receipt that will be emailed immediately after registration.
